Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli says “civil war” has already begun in France and warns Belgium and Britain may be next

Eastora News·

Israeli Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Minister Amichai Chikli said Sunday that what he described as a civil war had already begun in France, after nationwide protests on Saturday were accompanied by clashes, fires, looting and attacks on public buildings.

“I was convinced that the Right coming to power in France would trigger a civil war,” Chikli wrote on X. “It turns out I was being optimistic: it has already begun!”

Chikli added: “I wish France victory over barbarism, despite its betrayal of Israel.”

He also warned Belgium and Britain: “You are probably next. Get ready.”

France saw nationwide demonstrations on Saturday, October 17, over the cost of living, public services and education. The Interior Ministry said 550,000 people participated, while organizers put turnout at 800,000. Clashes and looting were reported in several cities, with public buildings targeted and more than 1,000 arrests reported by the end of the day.

French President Emmanuel Macron said those who attacked prefectures, businesses and town halls would be prosecuted and punished, while expressing support for peaceful demonstrators and law enforcement.
