Iran's Araghchi says Macron 'cannot escape blame' for war on Iran, citing support for U.S. policy and urging him to heed French protesters
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused French President Emmanuel Macron of sharing responsibility for the war on Iran, saying Macron’s alignment with U.S. policies had helped bring about the crisis. In a social media post, Araghchi criticized Macron for assuring U.S. President Donald Trump of his support for actions against Iranians and said it was too late to shift responsibility onto a conflict that Macron and others had helped cause.
Araghchi pointed to widespread cost-of-living and anti-government protests across France, where demonstrators are demanding wholesale change and freedom of assembly. He urged Macron to listen to the public’s demands and heed the nation’s future. Araghchi also shared a screenshot of a past message in which Macron pledged full alignment with Trump on regional policies, presenting it as evidence of support for Washington’s approach toward Tehran.
