Trump approval falls to 33%-36% in three polls, with Democrats leading by up to 10 points as GOP candidates distance themselves ahead of midterms
President Donald Trump’s approval has reached new lows ahead of the November midterm elections, putting Republican candidates in the position of trying to retain support from MAGA voters while appealing to independents. Washington Post-ABC-Ipsos, NBC News and Fox News polls put his approval at 33%, 34% and 36%, respectively. Among registered voters, Democrats lead Republicans by 8 to 10 points.
Approval of Trump’s handling of living costs and inflation ranges from 21% to 27%. Among Republicans, his approval is 76% to 79%, but stands at 95% among MAGA Republicans and 47% among non-MAGA Republicans. Separately, 37% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say they want party leaders to take a different direction.
