The advisories reflect growing anxieties in Washington over its diplomatic and military footprint, according to the post. Published by US diplomatic missions, they urged US travelers in the region to maintain heightened vigilance amid a volatile security landscape.

Citizens were also told to prepare for sudden airspace closures, widespread flight cancellations and severe travel disruptions. The alerts covered 12 regional nations, including the Gulf states, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Yemen and Iran.
