Brent climbs 1.8% to about $111, near five-month highs, as Houthi attack claims and a Hormuz mine report outweigh easing of Russian energy sanctions

Brent crude rose about 1.8% to around $111 a barrel, near a five-month high. U.S. benchmark WTI gained about 2% to around $100.50.
The price gains came amid Houthi claims of attacks on Saudi energy sites, including Aramco facilities at Yanbu and the Shaybah oilfield, as well as reports that a tanker hit a mine near the Strait of Hormuz.
Those risks outweighed the Trump administration’s recent easing of sanctions on Russian energy exports. Brent is up roughly 80% over the past year.
