Carney welcomes projected Alberta vote against moving toward a separation referendum, saying Albertans chose unity and Canada will move forward together

Prime Minister Mark Carney welcomed media projections showing a majority of Albertans rejected moving toward a separation referendum, saying they had made a clear choice: “They chose unity.”

He said the vote meant Albertans and all Canadians “will move forward together with renewed purpose and high ambition.” Carney also stressed that “Canada is so much greater than the sum of its parts.”
