French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu accused the ultra-left of planning “deep unrest” in France until the 2027 presidential election, citing intelligence briefings received by the government.
Addressing the National Assembly, Lecornu said far-left groups had planned “an insurrectional scheme” in some places during the violence on October 17.
A massive security operation, including military reinforcements, is planned for new protests on Saturday, October 24.
