Iranian security source says Ukraine deployed drone units around Iran, including thousands of micro-drones in Iraqi Kurdistan
An unnamed Iranian security source said Tuesday that Ukraine had deployed drone units equipped with micro-drones in several countries surrounding Iran and established what the source described as an operational network in the region.
The source said information about the countries hosting the Ukrainian personnel and drones was being withheld and would be released “at the appropriate time.”
According to the same source, Ukrainian personnel have deployed thousands of micro-drones in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
Tasnim, which reported the remarks, did not identify the security official or publish evidence supporting the allegations. Eastora found no independent confirmation of the reported deployments from Ukrainian, Iraqi or Kurdistan Regional Government authorities at the time of publication.
Ukraine has previously rejected separate allegations that it was training armed groups or producing drones for unlawful use in Iraq or the Kurdistan Region, saying its unmanned capabilities were devoted to defending Ukraine. That earlier denial did not address Tuesday’s specific allegations.
