Israeli forces reportedly move heavy equipment to Syria’s Jabal al-Arab to prepare a permanent base with radar and surveillance systems
Israeli forces have begun moving heavy military equipment and advanced technology to the summit of Jabal al-Arab in Syria’s southern Sweida governorate as preparations begin for a permanent base, according to local sources cited by Nabd al-Sham and Syria 360.
The strategic height is in a predominantly Druze region. The planned base is expected to house early-warning radar and surveillance equipment intended to expand Israeli intelligence coverage across southern Syria.
Local reports say dozens of Israeli military helicopters carried out airlift operations over 72 hours, transporting arms, tactical equipment and surveillance gear to the summit. The reported air bridge represents a major logistical movement deep inside Syrian territory, as Israeli forces continue to expand their presence beyond the occupied Golan Heights.
In response to the buildup, local Druze authorities issued strict orders barring civilians from approaching, inspecting or photographing the newly designated military zones. The post characterizes the establishment of the base as unauthorized, a severe escalation in Israel’s military encroachment into southern Syria that threatens further regional destabilization.
