Pete Hegseth meets Netanyahu at Ovda Air Base during unannounced Israel visit, eight days before election as U.S. and Israel discuss possible resumption of major combat against Iran
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Ovda Air Base on Monday during an unannounced visit to Israel, Axios reported, citing two sources with knowledge of the matter.
The visit came eight days before Israel’s election and amid ongoing discussions between the United States and Israel about the potential resumption of major combat operations against Iran.
The meeting took place at the base in southern Israel, where U.S. refueling planes and fighter jets are deployed. A source with knowledge of the matter also confirmed that Hegseth met with U.S. troops there.
The Pentagon and the Israeli Embassy declined to comment. Netanyahu’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
