Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that U.S. intelligence supporting early warnings of Russian ballistic missile attacks was working again, after Kyiv had complained that warnings were not being provided consistently.

Zelensky spoke at a joint news conference in Oslo with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb following talks that also involved U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff.

“We are thankful that intelligence works now,” Zelensky said, referring specifically to early warnings of incoming ballistic missiles. “We are thankful for the Americans. Now it works. It’s great.”

Earlier Tuesday, Zelensky said he had discussed the issue with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. A day earlier, he said Ukraine had received no warning before the first wave of a recent Russian ballistic missile attack and described it as the third such occurrence in a short period.

Asked about the state of the war, Zelensky rejected the suggestion that Ukraine was losing. “Of course, we are not losing this war, but we’re losing people and time,” he said, adding that Ukrainian children were being deprived of a normal childhood.

Zelensky also said Russia was supporting Iran. “Putin helps Iran. I know that Russia is on the side of the Iranians,” he said.

He reiterated that Ukraine wanted peace, saying: “Ukraine wants peace more than anyone. It was Russia that started this war.”
