Argentine President Javier Milei called Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez an “unpresentable dictator” during a speech in Madrid and linked his government to what he described as the “sinister socialism of the 21st century.”

Milei made the remarks Wednesday at a Nueva Economía Fórum event at the Casino de Madrid, during his latest visit to Spain.

“In recent years, Spain has known how to welcome hundreds of thousands of Argentines who escaped misery and a lack of future resulting from the sinister socialism of the 21st century and its Argentine branch, Kirchnerism,” Milei said, adding that Spaniards were experiencing it under Sánchez.

Milei also urged Spaniards to remove the Socialists from power and used further insults against Sánchez during the event, including calling him corrupt and a thief.

The remarks came little more than a month before Spain’s November 29 general election and again placed Milei directly inside the country’s political debate.

Spain’s Foreign Ministry later condemned Milei’s comments as insults and slander against Sánchez and Spanish democratic institutions, accusing the Argentine president of contributing to polarization.

Milei has repeatedly clashed with Sánchez since taking office and has used previous visits to Spain to align himself publicly with figures on the Spanish right, particularly Vox leader Santiago Abascal.
