Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has intelligence indicating that Iran may initiate an operation in the coming days in an effort to influence the country’s October 27 election.

Netanyahu made the remarks Tuesday, October 20, in an interview with Sharon Gal on i24NEWS’ “7 Sharon Gal” program, one week before Israelis vote.

“We have indications that, in order to influence the elections, they may initiate some kind of operation in the coming days, on the eve of the elections, in various arenas,” Netanyahu said. He said the information had come from the Mossad and the military and that Israel was preparing for the possibility.

Netanyahu did not specify what kind of operation he believed Iran might attempt, where it could occur or provide public evidence for the assessment.

In the same interview, Netanyahu praised U.S. President Donald Trump as a “once-in-a-century phenomenon” and said their partnership was unprecedented in Israel’s nearly eight-decade history.

He compared the opportunity created by their cooperation to the Roosevelt-Churchill partnership during World War II, while saying he did not presume to compare himself personally to Winston Churchill. Netanyahu said Israel and the U.S. could “destroy this neo-Nazi regime in Iran,” his characterization of Iran’s government.

Trump publicly endorsed Netanyahu for reelection on Sunday, nine days before the Israeli vote.
