Trump says he has spent more than $300 million on Republican campaigns and expects to exceed $400 million by Election Day as Bloomberg commits $80 million to Democrats
Donald Trump said he has spent more than $300 million on Republican campaign efforts and expects the total to exceed $400 million by Election Day, while former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is spending $80 million to help Democrats ahead of the November 3 midterm congressional elections, the New York Times reported.
Trump’s spending covers advertising, voter contact, rallies and get-out-the-vote programs. Bloomberg’s team said the money is being distributed in September and October, with at least $50 million going to House races, including support for gun safety groups and political action committees. The election will decide 470 seats in the Republican-controlled chambers of Congress as Democrats seek to regain control.
With his approval ratings sliding amid high living costs and rising fuel prices during the US-Israeli war on Iran, Trump began a campaign blitz across seven states in Kansas, aiming to rally loyal supporters.
He also announced an $8 billion harvest fuel relief program for farmers and proposed sending $5,000 checks to adult citizens if Republicans retain control of both the House and Senate. Analysts and economists have met the proposal with skepticism.
