Turkiye is waiting for Qatar to submit a sales contract and draft training program for additional Eurofighter Typhoon jets, the Turkish Defense Ministry said Thursday. The ministry said Qatar is expected to send both documents to Turkiye.

Turkish and Qatari delegations discussed technical and logistical arrangements in August and September, including how many aircraft and how much ammunition to purchase, as well as training for pilots and maintenance personnel. Negotiations over the additional aircraft are ongoing, the ministry said.

Ankara has sought a further 24 aircraft from Qatar and Oman, but progress on the procurement has been limited. Under Turkiye’s agreement with Britain, Qatar and Oman can supply some of their own Typhoon jets, subject to separate sales contracts.

Turkiye and Britain, both NATO members, signed a deal last year for 20 jets. The agreement aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and bolster Turkiye’s air defenses.
