Araghchi tells Macron to “get his story straight” on Iran’s nuclear program, citing the French president’s 2018 pledge to stay in the JCPOA

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized French President Emmanuel Macron over what he described as changing positions on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). In a post on X, Araghchi urged Macron to “get his story straight.”
Araghchi recalled Macron’s 2018 address to the US Congress, shortly before then-US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement. Macron said France would not leave the JCPOA because it had signed the deal, Araghchi noted.
Araghchi contrasted that pledge with Macron’s current claim that he has always opposed any form of nuclear activity in Iran, describing the positions as inconsistent.
