Armed Israeli settlers destroy Shireen Abu Akleh memorial in Ajjah, south of Jenin, in the occupied West Bank

Armed Israeli settlers raided Ajjah, south of Jenin, and destroyed a monument honoring Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh. Wafa reported that the settlers arrived in two vehicles near the Ajja roundabout before smashing the memorial installed by the local municipality.

The Ajjah municipality established the memorial to honor Abu Akleh, a veteran Palestinian-US correspondent. She was killed on May 11, 2022, when an Israeli soldier shot her in the head as she covered an Israeli military raid on the Jenin refugee camp.
