France is preparing a security operation for Saturday’s protests, with the government planning to deploy more personnel than the 60,000 sent to demonstrations on Oct. 17.
Police academy trainees will be assigned to guard buildings and carry out administrative duties. Authorities have imposed curfews and restrictions on demonstrations in Paris and several other cities.
The measures come as protests continue across France over living costs, public services and social policies.
