Negotiations between the Iraqi government and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have made no progress, a source in Iraq’s Coordination Framework told Channel8. A proposal to keep missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles with the militias under government supervision was rejected.
Kata'ib Hezbollah and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba remain unwilling to give up their weapons, the source said.
Pro-Iran Iraqi factions are also planning protests over the closure of the al-Sheeb border crossing. The source told Channel8 the crossing was closed because of “shadow groups” of five to 10 people carrying out attacks on Iran’s behalf, which are difficult to trace.
