Passengers were directed to shelters at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport after an air raid alert was declared amid a Ukrainian drone threat, while flight operations were halted at all four of the capital’s major airports.

Russia’s aviation agency, Rosaviatsiya, suspended arrivals and departures at Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky from around 14:05 Moscow time, citing safety reasons.

Airport staff told passengers to use shelters and safe zones and to avoid elevators, windows and any drone debris. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defenses were intercepting drones approaching the city, with at least 11 reportedly downed in recent hours.
