Turkish naval delegation visits Syria’s Latakia to discuss strengthening the Syrian Navy and agrees on a cooperation roadmap

A delegation of senior Turkish naval officers visited Latakia to support efforts to strengthen the Syrian Navy’s capabilities, and the two sides agreed on a memorandum of understanding and a roadmap for cooperation.

The delegation included Istanbul Shipyard Commander Rear Admiral Erdinç Yetkin, Naval Forces Logistics Chief Rear Admiral Timur Yılmaz and Naval Training and Education Commander Rear Admiral Yücel Darcan. Representatives of Turkish state defense firm Asfat also took part.

The talks covered ship maintenance, repair and modernization; construction of new vessels; individual and team training; and upgrades to port infrastructure. The two sides also carried out inspections.
