EU urges Israel to withdraw tender for more than 1,200 E1 settlement homes, warning project would divide West Bank and isolate East Jerusalem

The European Union has urged Israel to withdraw a tender for more than 1,200 homes under the E1 settlement project in the occupied West Bank. The European Commission warned that the project would split the West Bank, isolate East Jerusalem and further undermine prospects for a two-state solution.
A spokesperson said the development was “not taking place in a vacuum,” describing it as part of an environment of increasing instability in the West Bank and record levels of violence by settlers.
