Germany negotiates to buy Ukraine’s Bars jet-powered drones, reportedly capable of a 1,000-km range and speeds above 700 km/h

Germany is negotiating to buy Ukraine’s Bars jet-powered drones, a German official told the Kyiv Independent. The system is reportedly capable of traveling 1,000 km and exceeding 700 km/h. The one-way attack munition costs about $50,000 at the low end.

Separately, U.S.-backed Ukrainian defense firm Sine Engineering is launching a research and development initiative in Finland. It is intended to help unmanned aircraft systems navigate without GPS, communicate through jamming and make decisions autonomously when needed. Similar efforts are underway across Europe and the United States to address those challenges.
