Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Hebron closed immediately and instructed security forces to prepare for a full lockdown across the occupied West Bank. Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that the orders came as the Israeli army shut all entrances to Hebron with iron gates, placing the city under siege.
The Israeli military has also blocked entrances to various towns and residential communities with earth mounds and checkpoints, effectively preventing movement between them.
