Pentagon prepares major U.S. bases to survive 90 days without outside support, with reactors, strategic reserves and factory plans
The Pentagon is preparing every major U.S. military base to withstand 90 days without outside support, including access to the civilian power grid, global supply chains, external fuel or water. The initiative was detailed in documents reviewed by Fox News Digital.
Plans include portable nuclear reactors, large-scale battery storage and microgrids that could disconnect installations entirely from civilian electricity. The Pentagon also plans to stockpile munitions, fuel, critical minerals and medical supplies according to wartime consumption rates, while identifying civilian factories that could shift to defense production during a crisis.
Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell said, “Power is combat now.” Without electricity, he said, military forces lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and basic command structures.
