Trump campaigns across three states as Leavitt says ‘history is not on the Republican side’ in fight to retain narrow majorities
President Donald Trump is campaigning in North Carolina, South Carolina and Michigan within a single week as Republicans seek to hold narrow majorities in the House and Senate ahead of the midterms.
Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital that Trump “totally understands that history is not on the Republican side right now,” but is pressing ahead. She said Republicans face persistent inflation, high gas prices, an unpopular war with Iran and Trump’s declining approval numbers. The party is also trying to address low turnout among MAGA supporters, who have historically been less likely to vote when Trump is not on the ballot.
Democrats say they have Republicans “on the run.” Leavitt countered that Republicans have a “massive cash advantage” and are drawing a contrast between “commonsense Republican conservative candidates” and what she called “the most radical Democrats we’ve ever seen run in the history of our country.”
