The Times reported that UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham called for an “honest discussion” about immigration and said restoring EU free movement would not be a red line in negotiations for closer ties with the bloc.

Burnham argued that EU migrants before Brexit were more likely to return home, while immigration today is more permanent.

He ruled out joining the euro or the Schengen area.
