Egypt’s House of Representatives has approved a constitutional authorization empowering President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s defense capabilities if requested. The vote was held in a closed-door session convened under Article 152 of the Egyptian Constitution.
The authorization followed a recommendation from Egypt’s National Defense Council, which met to address what the post described as escalating regional security crises and repeated missile and drone strikes targeting Saudi urban hubs, energy infrastructure and commercial airports.
