Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said a meeting between Iran and the countries of the Mecca accords will focus on what the spokesperson called “Zionist expansionism,” developments in occupied Palestine and the situation in Lebanon.
The spokesperson welcomed regional countries’ efforts to establish security mechanisms—or at least discuss them—based on their own interests and priorities.
The meeting could be a prelude to further steps toward shaping “indigenous security,” the spokesperson said, describing it as a concept Iran has advocated for decades. The spokesperson argued that regional security can be achieved only through the will and security considerations of countries within the region.
