The United States and Iran face a growing risk of renewed full-scale war, with U.S. intelligence indicating that Tehran is advancing assassination plots against American officials and Iranian leaders anticipating another major U.S.-Israeli offensive, The New York Times reported.

U.S. officials believe several Iranian plots have moved closer to execution. They target American diplomats, including ambassadors, in the Middle East, as well as officials on U.S. soil.

The threats have prompted heightened security measures, including the withdrawal of B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford in Britain.
