Adalah issues urgent demand over Arabic ballot shortages at Israeli polling stations, citing equal-voting rights and calling for immediate fixes
The Adalah Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel called on the Central Elections Committee to address reported shortages of Arabic-language ballots at polling stations during the Israeli election. Election observers and Palestinian voters reported that polling centers in key Palestinian towns opened without basic voting materials in Arabic.
Adalah sent a formal warning urging election authorities to distribute Arabic ballots immediately and issue explicit guidance to local voting committees. The center said withholding ballots in voters’ native language directly infringes on Palestinian citizens’ fundamental right to participate equally. Legal advocates also said Arabic is the primary language for hundreds of thousands of eligible voters and that access to ballots in that language is a necessary legal condition for electoral legitimacy. The reported procedural barriers in Palestinian communities came as opposition figures raised broader claims of voter suppression across the country.
