Alon, Oren and Tal Alexander sentenced to 30 years each in federal prison for sex trafficking as judge calls their conduct “monstrous”
Alon, Oren and Tal Alexander, three brothers from a prominent Israeli-American family, were each sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Tuesday for sex trafficking, conspiracy and multiple counts of sexual abuse. U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni imposed the sentences in a Manhattan courtroom after an hours-long hearing in which more than a dozen survivors gave impact statements describing years of abuse.
At the five-week trial, federal prosecutors presented evidence that the brothers used their wealth, social standing and Israeli-American background ties to lure women to luxury properties, including estates in the Hamptons and locations abroad such as Tel Aviv. Prosecutors said the women were drugged and violently assaulted while incapacitated.
Tal and Oren operated luxury real estate brokerages, while their twin brother Alon worked as an executive at their family’s security firm. The brothers used their network to shield their conduct, according to the post.
Caproni rejected the defendants’ late assertions of innocence and appeals for mercy, calling their actions “monstrous” and likening them to “sadistic, misogynistic sexual predators.” The brothers maintained a defiant stance as victims confronted them in court.
Federal prosecutors had sought life sentences, citing the profound psychological trauma inflicted on more than 70 victims who came forward to investigators.
