Israel Katz calls Eisenkot’s appeal to IDF officials ‘undemocratic,’ says military remains involved in Iran discussions and will carry out required decisions

Israel’s war minister, Israel Katz, criticized Gadi Eisenkot’s appeal to senior IDF officials not to obey directives from the prime minister, Katz or authorized security forums. Katz called the appeal “undemocratic and detached,” and said the IDF would carry out any decision required.

Katz said Eisenkot had argued that the officials “have his backing.” He described the appeal as a continuation of what he called a false campaign waged by Eisenkot and his colleagues during the election over alleged disputes between the military and political leadership regarding Iran.

Katz also said much would be said about Eisenkot’s “embarrassing speech” the previous day, characterizing it as consistent with a political tradition of people rushing to sing, declare victory and crown themselves.

He said the IDF had been a full partner in the major achievements against Iran and remained involved in all discussions.
