Qatar-led mediators press Iran for nuclear concessions to avert post-midterm U.S.-Israeli strikes, offering inspector access for limited sanctions relief
Qatar-led mediators are pressing Iran to accept nuclear concessions to avert large-scale U.S.-Israeli strikes after the U.S. midterm elections, Axios reported. Their proposal would let UN inspectors enter Iran’s bombed nuclear sites in exchange for limited sanctions relief and access to frozen funds.
Without an agreement, U.S. and Israeli officials expect a week-long bombing campaign targeting Iran’s leadership, energy facilities, nuclear sites and infrastructure, according to Axios.
Iran is expected to seek Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s approval of the proposals in the coming days.
