Schumer’s Senate Majority PAC puts $1.2 million into Mississippi Senate race as Republicans counter with a seven-figure ad buy
Chuck Schumer’s Senate Majority PAC is putting $1.2 million into Mississippi’s Senate race, backing district attorney Scott Colom’s bid to unseat Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. Mississippi has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1982.
The spending has drawn Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg to the state. Buttigieg is scheduled to hold a rally on the Gulf Coast Tuesday. Republicans have responded with a seven-figure ad buy through the Senate Leadership Fund, while Trump rallied for Hyde-Smith in Corinth on Monday and urged voters to “pretend that I’m on the ballot.”
Hyde-Smith’s campaign described the effort as “Washington insiders making a last ditch effort to give life to Scott Colom’s failing campaign.” The NRSC called Colom’s bid “backed by Chuck Schumer, funded by George Soros, and built on pro-transgender and other far-left policies.”
Colom, in turn, said Hyde-Smith “refuses to debate, she doesn’t campaign” and argued that the real issue is her “betrayal of the America First movement.”
