Serbian police shot and killed an unidentified minor after he attacked an officer guarding the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic later announced that the country had raised its terror alert to the highest level.
Authorities described the minor as a known Islamic State supporter. Serbian security services had been monitoring him after he displayed the group’s black flag on his Instagram profile.
The attacker approached a member of the elite Gendarmerie at the embassy entrance armed with two knives, shouted “Allahu Akbar” and launched the assault. The officer sustained minor facial injuries and shot the attacker in self-defense.
