Türkiye says it is ready to sign a maritime boundary deal with Egypt, saying Cairo would gain over 15,000 sq km compared with a possible deal with Greece

Türkiye’s Defence Ministry says Ankara is ready to sign a maritime boundary agreement with Egypt. It argues that Egypt would gain more than 15,000 square kilometres of additional maritime jurisdiction under such an agreement compared with a possible deal with Greece.
Greece and Egypt signed a partial maritime boundary agreement in 2020. Ankara does not recognise that deal.
The ministry’s offer comes as Turkish-Egyptian relations, restored in recent years, continue to improve.
