Judge James Boasberg assigned to oversee bid to unseal FBI warrant used in raid on Ilhan Omar’s home amid two federal investigations

Judge James Boasberg has been assigned to oversee the dispute over unsealing the FBI search warrant used in the raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home. Two separate federal investigations into Omar are also underway.

One investigation is examining alleged discrepancies in Omar’s financial disclosures. The other is probing whether her father misstated her age on citizenship paperwork in 2000, potentially allowing her to obtain citizenship as a minor.

After Boasberg blocked Venezuelan deportation flights, Trump called him a “Radical Left Lunatic.” Trump has long accused Omar of immigration fraud, including allegedly marrying her brother, and called for her to be “put in jail” in the weeks after the raid on her D.C. home.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro opposed media requests to unseal the warrant, calling them “rash” and arguing that the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed. Omar’s attorneys are seeking the return of seized property. They allege agents violated protections for her congressional work and prevented her from contacting lawyers during the search.
