A source in the United Arab Emirates told Israel’s Channel 14 that foreign diplomatic missions in the Gulf are increasingly preparing for the possibility of a major regional escalation immediately after the U.S. midterm elections.

“Everyone here is on full alert and preparing for Nov. 4, one day after the U.S. midterms,” the source was quoted as saying.

According to the report, foreign ambassadors in the UAE increasingly believe an escalation could be approaching and some diplomatic missions are already examining possible evacuation arrangements.

The reported preparations come amid heightened concerns over another round of U.S.-Israeli military action against Iran if ongoing diplomatic efforts fail.

Washington and Tehran are currently exchanging messages through regional mediators, while Saudi Arabia and other governments have urged the Trump administration to give negotiations more time.

Trump has not publicly announced a decision to launch new strikes and said Wednesday that talks with Iran remain underway through intermediaries.
