Trump cancels Kansas and Iowa rallies, leaving Daytona as his only in-person campaign stop this weekend
President Donald Trump has canceled planned weekend campaign rallies in Salina, Kansas, and Dubuque, Iowa, leaving Friday night’s event in Daytona Beach, Florida, as his only remaining in-person rally before the final weekend of the midterm campaign.
The Kansas event, scheduled for Saturday in support of Republican Sen. Roger Marshall, was canceled Thursday. The White House said Trump would instead hold more than 20 virtual “telerallies” before Election Day to reach voters in multiple states.
Later Thursday, officials in Iowa announced that Trump’s Sunday rally at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque had also been canceled and would be replaced by a virtual event.
Trump is still scheduled to appear Friday at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.
The cancellations come with five days remaining before the Nov. 3 elections, as Republicans defend several unexpectedly competitive Senate races.
