Iran security chief says Saudi defence minister warned Israel could target Türkiye and Saudi Arabia after Iran
Iran’s top security official Mohsen Rezaei said Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman told him during high-level talks in Tehran that Israel could turn against Türkiye and then Saudi Arabia after its confrontation with Iran.
Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, disclosed the remarks while discussing Monday’s four-way security meeting involving Iran, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan.
“One of the notable points in these negotiations was the explicit positions of the officials present against the Zionist regime,” Rezaei said, according to Iranian media.
“Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi defence minister, told me that Israel, after Iran, will go after Türkiye and then target Saudi Arabia,” he said.
Rezaei also said Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalın expressed concern during the Tehran discussions about Israeli threats and what he described as emerging alignments against Muslim countries and Pakistan.
Saudi Arabia has not publicly commented on Khalid bin Salman’s reported remarks. Riyadh said his visit to Tehran alongside senior Turkish and Pakistani officials was aimed at reducing regional tensions, encouraging dialogue and supporting diplomatic efforts to prevent renewed military escalation.
The Tehran meeting brought Rezaei together with Khalid bin Salman, Kalın and Pakistan’s military chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. The officials also met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
A joint statement following the talks said the four countries agreed to continue dialogue and strengthen cooperation on regional peace and security.
