Israeli forces withdraw from Hebron after 10-day operation as displaced Palestinian families begin returning home
Israeli forces withdrew from Hebron in the occupied West Bank on Monday after a 10-day military operation, with Palestinian security forces taking control of the affected areas, according to Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin.
Dudin said families forced from their homes could begin returning and that Palestinian authorities were monitoring conditions to facilitate their safe return.
The Israeli operation began on October 23 after a shooting attack by two Palestinians killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others. Israeli forces later killed the two attackers.
Hebron Municipality said 4,969 Palestinians from 780 families had been displaced during the operation. Israeli forces also imposed closures, seized homes for use as military positions and carried out demolitions that damaged residential and commercial property and local infrastructure.
