Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman warns Trump of further consequences after U.S. election defeats, saying attacks on Iran bring defeat

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei issued a sharp warning to U.S. President Donald Trump following the American midterm elections, accusing his administration of launching an unlawful war against Iran and declaring that further aggression would bring consequences beyond those already experienced.

In a statement published on X, Baghaei argued that Washington had fundamentally misjudged Iran’s resilience and determination, and linked the political message delivered by American voters to the administration’s military confrontation with Tehran.

“Pride comes before a fall!” Baghaei wrote, accusing Trump of acting out of greed and arrogance while serving the interests of what he called a “deceitful regime.”

He said the United States had entered an unlawful and destructive conflict because its leadership misunderstood Iran’s national resolve.

“Your calculations failed, your assumptions collapsed, and your strategic misjudgments became painfully evident,” he wrote, attributing those failures to a misunderstanding of the Iranian people and their national pride.

Baghaei then turned to the U.S. election results, presenting them as a warning to the president about the political consequences of his decisions.

“The American people have now sent you a clear message,” he wrote.

He warned that continuing the same course while ignoring the lessons of recent events could produce further consequences.

“If you continue to disregard reality, dismiss the lessons of history, and persist in this dangerous course, the consequences of this grave miscalculation will extend far beyond what you have already witnessed,” Baghaei said.

The spokesman concluded with a direct rejection of the idea that military force could compel Iran to submit to American demands.

“Attacking Iran does not bring victory. It only results in defeat,” he wrote.

“Iran is not a nation that can be understood through arrogance, intimidated through threats, or brought to its knees through aggression.”

The statement came as Iranian officials interpreted the Republican Party’s midterm election losses as evidence of domestic opposition to Washington’s military policies and its alignment with Israel.

Baghaei’s remarks went beyond that electoral interpretation, delivering a warning that Tehran would not regard changes in American domestic politics as a substitute for changes in Washington’s conduct toward Iran.

His statement did not specify what additional consequences might follow renewed military action, but it reinforced Tehran’s public position that further attacks would not force the country to retreat.
