Trump says United States has no immediate plans for another attack on Iran and claims Washington is achieving its objectives
U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington has no immediate plans to launch another military attack against Iran, expressing satisfaction with the current situation and suggesting that the United States is achieving its objectives without further escalation.
Speaking in a six-minute telephone interview with the Financial Times on Tuesday, Trump indicated that he saw no immediate need for additional military action against Tehran.
“We seem to be getting everything we want,” Trump told the newspaper.
His remarks suggested that the White House was satisfied with the results of its current approach toward Iran, although he did not publicly outline the specific objectives he believed had been achieved.
The comments came amid continuing uncertainty over the next phase of U.S. policy toward Tehran following military operations involving the United States and Israel.
Trump has repeatedly defended his administration's actions against Iran, arguing that the military campaign served American national security interests and was necessary to address threats attributed to Tehran.
His latest remarks appeared to signal a preference for maintaining the current situation rather than immediately expanding military operations.
However, the absence of immediate attack plans does not amount to a commitment to rule out future military action.
The president's comments also followed renewed questions about the economic consequences of the conflict, including higher energy prices and growing political opposition to the administration's policies.
Trump has maintained that his decisions regarding Iran were justified by long-term American interests, even as the conflict has become a significant issue in domestic political debate.
The Financial Times interview offered one of his clearest recent indications that Washington was not preparing an immediate new strike, while leaving open how the administration might respond to future developments.
