Tucker Carlson declares end of Trump era after Republican election defeat, accuses president of putting Israel ahead of America

Conservative commentator and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has declared that President Donald Trump’s political era is over following the Republican Party’s defeat in the November 3 midterm elections, accusing the president of prioritizing Israel’s interests over those of the United States.

“The repudiation of the Republicans was complete. That repudiation, of course, was a repudiation of Trump,” Carlson said, calling the election a decisive rejection of the president’s leadership.

He described the result as the end of the political movement Trump built, declaring that the country had reached the close of an era regardless of future developments at home or abroad.

Carlson blamed the war against Iran for the Republican defeat, arguing that voters had rejected the administration’s military involvement in the Middle East. He said the conflict’s political consequences had been apparent before Americans went to the polls.

He also criticized the financial burden of U.S. military interventions, arguing that successive wars had contributed to the country’s economic difficulties.

Carlson directed his strongest criticism at Trump’s relationship with Israel, accusing the president of placing another country’s interests above those of American citizens.

“It’s exactly what Trump did. He chose Israel over the United States,” Carlson said, rejecting attempts to dispute his interpretation of the administration’s decisions.

He further argued that election exit polls supported his position that Trump’s foreign policy had contributed to the Republican defeat.

Turning to Vice President JD Vance, Carlson acknowledged that voters frustrated with Trump could also blame Vance for failing to challenge the administration more openly.

He nevertheless stressed that his criticism was not intended to promote Vance as a potential Republican presidential nominee in 2028.

Carlson’s remarks followed Democratic victories in both chambers of Congress, as the Iran war, rising fuel prices and household expenses became major issues in the midterm campaign.

Trump has acknowledged that the war contributed to Republican losses but has defended the military campaign as necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
