Sudan has sharply escalated its rhetoric against the UAE at the UN, accusing Abu Dhabi of helping prolong the war through its alleged support for the Rapid Support Forces.

According to Zeit, Sudan’s representative went so far as to describe the UAE as a “country of evil,” reflecting how bitter relations between the two governments have become.

Khartoum has repeatedly accused the UAE of providing military, financial and logistical backing to the RSF. Abu Dhabi denies supporting either side in the conflict and says it favors a negotiated end to the war.

The dispute has become one of the most contentious international dimensions of Sudan’s conflict, with both sides using UN forums to trade accusations over responsibility for the fighting.
